A drawing hand is one that is worthless
unless it improves, but if it does improve, is highly
likely to be a winner.
Good examples are four card straights and flushes.
Your objective on such hands should be to stay in as
inexpensively as possible until you hit or until you
judge that you showing cards make a bluff credible.
In the early rounds you should not try and drive out
opponents because if you hit you expect to beat them
all, but neither are you afraid to call most bets or
raises.
However the longer you stay in without completing your
hand, the dimmer your prospects, and a round by round
evaluation of the pot odds is essential. Much depends
on the other cards showing. Weak players tend to neglect
this, and if they have a four card flush at the outset,
pointlessly stay to see the seventh card no matter what
is showing, who is in the hand, or what they must call.
