These hands may include three to a flush
or a straight in four cards.
Although the probability of ending up with the winning
hand is small it is still worth a shot
Here your objective must be to keep the betting small
to give yourself a chance to re-evaluate your position
in light of new cards.
After new cards, your hand will either have improved,
(in which case it is no longer a long shot) or you will
have seen enough to fold.
If it is cheap enough, and the next rounds cards will
help to clarify your chances, calling a normal size
bet is justified, but only if you have the discipline
to fold if a desired card does not appear. If there
are early raises or big bets, it is usually best to
give up on long shot hands before you are sucked into
expensive calls later.
